Some extra 600 megawatts of electricity is to enter the national grid this December when overhaul work on a gas turbine at Shiroro hydropower station is done.
The station’s chief executive officer Daudu Abdulaziz disclosed this during a routine tour of the station by the minister of state for power Darius Ishaku.
Abdulaziz said the station would become operational after work is completed on the abandoned unit, allowing Shiroro to meet the December target it set for itself.
Minister of state for power Ishaku told workers at Shiroro to ensure they are part of making the history of the power sector, where reforms are afoot.
